I enjoyed this loads, I got on board with all the characters and was along for the ride. It tackled some pretty heavy subjects, I thought with care, but remainded a fun read overall. Exactly what I needed.

The audiobook was really well done, and I was glad of the constant reminder of which point of view we were in.

🎧 Listened via audiobook 🎧

This is the second book I’ve read by Beth O’Leary and  WOW WOW WOW!

What a clever clever story!! It’s funny because as I was listening to this, even though we were being pulled along the story in a certain way, I never quite hated Joseph. I always felt there was a kindness and sincerity about him (possibly due to the talented actors who read this audiobook) and with that niggling feeling, I couldn’t quite understand why such a seemingly nice guy would cheat on 3 women at the same time! Were we being duped along with these ladies or was there more to it? What was his reasoning? Was he trying to decide who to choose or was he just a complete arsehole? I just HAD to find out. The intrigue had me hooked!

WELL….just as you think it’s going to hit the fan, this story transforms and suddenly things make perfect sense! It’s so difficult not to give things away so if any friends see this review, PLEASE READ THIS SO WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT HAHA!

I really loved this book and it’s probably one of my favourite’s now.

The book felt chaotic and choppy between the three main women and Joseph. The mini flashbacks were unclear and made the book seem longer. Read the TWs before reading.

This book…wow. I have read two other books by this author, one I loved and one I didn’t like much, but this one takes the cake. It was truly beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed it and the experience of listening to the audiobook was especially enjoyable. The narrators were incredible, and the last chapter switch up in POV had me extremely unwell in the best way.

Featuring three very different women, all facing three different realities as they grapple with their feelings for one particular man, the way this book begins is on the funny side. As you get to know each of the characters and begin to understand what’s going on and what has happened, it becomes clear what is going to happen, but that sense of knowing did not take away from the story at all. If anything, it makes it that much better when you experience the emotion of the back third of the book when the pieces begin to come together.

The way that each of the three narratives were woven together was spectacularly done, and even the frustrating moments played such an important role for the development of each character. I really enjoyed the depth that we got with each character and the exploration of challenging topics such as grief, miscarriage, sexual harassment, and mental health were handled quite well throughout the book. I hadn’t checked the warnings beforehand, so I was surprised by some of them but I was invested in how each of them were handled for the respective characters.

I wouldn’t have thought so from the beginning, but this was definitely a 5⭐️ read for me, and I’m so glad to have given it a fair chance after not enjoying The Road Trip.
