DNF. It's interesting. It's visually pretty. The tone is appropriate to the concept. But... meh. Not for me.
Beautiful.
I've read this god-know-how-many-dozens of times, and it remains fresh and wonderful.

Still one of my all-time favorite books, as good now as I read it to my daughter as it was when I read it as a child.
I don't know what I like more: the beautiful watercolor art, the surprisingly engrossing story, the fantastic setting, or the idea of the wonderful utopia that is Dinotopia. I feel myself drawn into continuing on with the rest of the books, and I'm so happy that my daughter is genuinely enjoying it too.
"Code of Dinotopia
Survival of all or none.
One raindrop raises the sea.
Weapons are enemies, even to their owners.
Give more, take less.
Others first, self last.
Observe, listen, and learn.
Do one thing at a time.
Sing every day.
Exercise imagination.
Eat to live, don't live to eat."

This book took my childhood fascination (that has survived to adulthood) and ran away with it to a beautiful and colourful world. James Gurney created a world that still keeps with the 'real' world, that while beautiful, can also be dangerous to those who are unprepared and unwary. In creating this fantastic place down to the very details of their writing system, this is somewhere I still enjoy going when I need a little change of pace from the 'mundane'.

one of the prettiest books to ever exist. I loved it already when I didn't even know how to read and I love it just as much today
I've loved this book since I was a kid and it's so well illustrated
