These Alien Skies

4.14 AVERAGE

These Alien Skies by C.T. Rwizi invites readers to go on a brief yet enthralling journey beyond the galaxy. Accidents occur in the mystical regions of the African Union system in this short story, launching two humans to the far side of a star gate. Theirs is a voyage of hope, survival, and the discovery of new dimensions. Msizi and Tariro are copilots on a newly established wormhole jump, which promises to connect them to unsettled, inhabited worlds. But fate steps in, and an unexpected explosion throws them off track. They find themselves marooned on Malcolm X-B, a celestial body that's far from their intended destination. However, as they assess their surroundings, doubts begin to seep in. How many light years have they been knocked off course? Rwizi expertly blends themes of adventure, resilience, and the lure of the unknown. This short story offers an enticing view into a cosmos full of possibilities. It makes readers consider the enormity of existence and the perseverance of the human heart, mind, and soul.

This one was my favorite of the series. I have one of his books in my TBR pile, so that one will be read next.

Such a compelling and well written story. I was able to emotionally connected with the characters, and therefore the themes of the story, really quickly and easily.

Can't wait to revisit this story in the future as I imagine a second reading highlights hidden themes.

Exquisite.

This was so, so good. It packed so much into so few pages but did so in a way that didn't make it seem jammed. I was so interested in the space travel aspect, in the colonies, and in the various interstellar African cultures. The heart of this story, with its depiction of grief was so affecting and lovely. I definitely need to seek out more from this author.

This was a great short story about identity and loss. A great exploration of a man exploring a new part of the solar system, and finding peace within himself and where he goes. Will be reading more from this author in the future.
