Evocative, a sense of the gothic and a story well told.

Set in the landscape of West Yorkshire during Edwardian times the tension and unfolding darkness of this atmospheric historical fiction centred around female protagonists haunted by complicated pasts is well worth spending the with.

The tone of this is very crisp, very true to its horror origins. And all in all, the horror of what goes on in the household is told well, although it’s pretty much what you would expect. Overall it was a fun read, but rather middling

I loved it! Reminded me of slightly cheesey Rebecca or Jane Eyre (which I also love) Set in Hebden Bridge area is also another bonus!
