Easily the most engrossing novel I've read this year. Mrs. England was hard to put down and when I did, I couldn't stop thinking about it. The characters, and their past, were revealed with perfect timing and the suspense sneaks in slowly. It was the type of novel that was so good that I wanted to savor it however was too addicting to stop. I can't wait to read The Familiars!

Ruby is a children's nurse for a family in Hebden Bridge. She loves the children, but senses something is wrong between the parents.
An easy read, it pulled me along.

First sentence: The woods at night were far from silent.

Ends of chapters:  Light

⭐️4.5 =Good.
Paperback.
This was certainly a novel that captured you. Yes, it had a few minor faults, but nothing to take away my enjoyment.
I love books from this era as I find them so atmospheric and can always visualise each scene clearly. This was no exception.
Quite an easy read but one that enough of a mysterious plot to keep you guessing.
