I really thought I'd love it but the whole novel felt rather flat. I expected a double plot twist that would have blown my mind but... Unfortunately, no.

Set mainly in 1904 Yorkshire, Ruby a trained Norland nanny takes up a position in an isolated house of a wealthy couple and their four children. Mr & Mrs England are not quite what she expected and as time goes by she becomes more aware of dark undercurrents within the house. However, there are mysteries lurking in Ruby’s past too.....
Full of emotion, the author is so good at building a sense of menace and mystery.

Disappointing. Bit of a pot-boiler. Nothing really happens! What action there us, is crammed into last few pages. Quite interesting about Norland Nannies!
