I really enjoyed this book. I don’t want to say anything for fear of giving it away, but the writing was good, the story was interesting, and the characters were fairly good. I definitely something recommend it - good read!

So... I'm stumped on how to review this, honestly. The Sabine/Jeffrey dynamic and the Marcus perspective were super intriguing to me, but even before the reveal of who Beth was, I truly didn't care about her story. It just didn't grab me, unfortunately. Also, I'm in a reading slump, so I'm trying to claw my way out of it and this just didn't do it for me. Not bad, a quick read, but not my favorite of her books either!

Not particularly thrilling or mysterious (well, maybe a tiny bit twisty and mysterious), but still one of the most satisfying mystery/thrillers I've listened to in a while. A darn good listen!

I read this from a tiny print paperback and still couldn’t put it down! Kept me interested and had a good twist and ending.

This one was somewhat interesting, as I always love a ‘woman on the lamb’ tale and some fresh start vibes. I could’ve done without the body-shaming, personally. I also enjoyed the alternating first-person POVs.

Fresh start.
Abusive husband / wife on the run.
Lots of twists, betrayal and some interesting scheming.

Overall:
This was a mildly fun read—3.5 stars.

I did the audio for this book and really enjoyed it. It’s always a plus for me when the various narrators are read by different individuals and that was the case in this book. I will say, I don’t always pay 100% attention with audio books because I’m typically multi tasking. That may have been the situation here because wow did I fall for every twist!! I had some inklings some things were coming, and was even fooled early on by one premonition, but WOW! The twists were fun and really made this book. I definitely enjoyed this and absolutely recommend!

Audiobook #8

This book started off very similar to Gone Girl and I was starting to get bored when BAM it snuck a huge twist in there and completely changed the game. Well done

Good audiobook, just a bit boring for a psychological thriller. I'm used to having more twists and turns but this just had one big twist at the end, which was mildly satisfying but not an OMG WOW type of reveal. Entertaining enough to read quickly though!

Spoilerthis seriously spoils the whole book so don't click unless you're sure
Spoilerok well, Beth and Sabine are not the same person. Beth's husband is the cop and Sabine had been helping Beth escape an abusive relationship when the cop killed Sabine and that's who Beth is on the run from...

I flew through listening to this one on Audible. It's difficult not to. The narration was good and well-paced so that the chapters galloped one after another. I did want to know the backstory, and the moment I made the connection between the characters, it hinged on a tiny detail. And of course, I just had to find out how it would all end with the almighty confrontation between the hunter and the hunted.

I found a lot of parallels to Sleeping with the Enemy and to a good many domestic thriller books which seem to be clawing into the book market lately. The ones that just have that narrative twist to make the reader go "ah-ha!" all at once. This book was sneakier, I thought, than The Silent Patient, which I had suspected sooner. I figured that some things weren't adding up from the start in Dear Wife, considering that certain narrative voices wouldn't be in there IF the characters/narrators of each chapter weren't somehow more closely related. I'll let you sort out the details and clues for yourself as you read. Just pay close attention. Not everything is as it seems - even die has several face, after all.

A thriller that is meant to have a lot of twists but I thought they were a little predictable and not entirely realistic. Still compelling enough to want to see what happens though. Some problematic descriptions/depictions of marginalized characters that makes me unable to recommend the book.
