I liked this book. I didn’t love it though. The overall plot is an enemies to lovers trope which I do like but I felt like has been done better in other books. For example: The Do-Over. I enjoyed that enemies to lovers trope more. Like another reviewer said it just didn’t stick the landing.

I also found myself really not liking Liz’s attitude or character at all about halfway through the book. She knew she was being a bad friend by lying to her best friend and stepmom but still continued to do it. I found myself wanting to scream “JUST TELL THE TRUTH,” so many times. And I understand with the loss of her mom things aren’t the same but she definitely should’ve just been honest with the people in her life rather than just lying to them.

I also felt like it took a little too long for her to realize that who she thought she wanted to be with was not the one but that’s just me. I liked the ending though how everything got resolved but I don’t think this book was a super stand out to me.

This was my book club's pick for February and I am devasted that I didn't read it then! This is the perfect Valentine's book. It was witty, heartful, and so reminiscent of classic rom-coms - I can't believe I almost put it down. The relationship between Liz and Wes made me discover my love for the fake dating trope. Yes, it was a little predictable, but their chemistry was wonderful!
Wes' lifelong crush was something I called early on and I was dying the whole way through. I love that tension!!
Multiple parts got me smiling and I couldn't help myself from laughing in class.
Better Than the Movies was delightful, charming, and full of so much personality. I just couldn't put it down.
