A look into religious trauma and how it can effect everyone. Not all godly people are kind as we all know. When a church looks the other way you cannot continue to believe in them.

I feel like I always take something away from Ellen Hopkins books. The style she chooses to write in is beautiful and mixes well with the story shes telling. This book in particular is original, captivating, and ultimately inspiring. I've read a lot of people harshly reviewing the book falsely portraying Mormonism, what it represents, and so on. Personally I think it is possible that a household can be like this. Not all houses of course but why not this one? Its a book people! A story. Fiction. Anyways, though it does have a tragic ending, most of the best books do. I definitely recommend this book, and its an easy read due to the layout.

AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! Ellen Hopkins needs an EDITOR! She is a really gifted writer. The verse style of her novels is intriguing and effective. She doesn't condescend to her audience and deals with complex issues honestly. But, and I have read a few too many of her books now, she runs out of steam about 2/3 of the way through and then it feels like being dragged with the most cliched teen-angst gumbo ever. Her books are just too long and always disappointing. PLEASE SOMEONE GET ELLEN HOPKINS AN EDITOR AND TEACH HER HOW TO FINISH A BOOK AS STRONG AS SHE STARTS THEM.
