As everything from Katee Robert I habe read this book is dark, a lot of erotic content and struggles. I love the queer, polyamorous representation and the struggles the book. It is a easy read if you want a lot of smut and dark, morally grey characters. No character is presented as infallible or perfect with flaws which are comprehensible and make you empathise with the characters.

Katee Robert does not disappoint!

The cast of this book is beautifully diverse. Her character descriptions bring them off the page. The same for the whole setting.

This one has a lot more story and character development in it then her other works I've read. Watching little Zuri blossom into a strong, outspoken woman was worth every page turn.

I need more of these characters. I need more Katee Robert.

Weird Little Mermaid knockoff that made me uncomfortable and while there was verbal consent it didn’t really feel all that right. Not my fave

This installment in Robert’s Wicked Villains series stars Ursa (the sea witch), Alaric (a charming rogue devoted to Ursa), and Zurielle (an innocent “princess” and daughter of Ursa’s greatest enemy). Like the rest of the series, previous protagonists make appearances as well as the future protagonists being foreshadowed. Much of this throuple is a reskinned version of the Hades/Hercules/Meg story with Zuri playing the Hercules role of “innocent person connected to the enemy of a powerful person initially being used to get revenge but they actually all fall in love.” The greatest difference here is the main dominant personality is a woman.

I know nobody is reading these for the plot but choose this one if you’re more interested in FFM rather than MMF that the other throuple books have.

The spice is fantastic, but the rest of the plot feels copy/paste from the rest of the wicked villains series. But really, who reads these for the plot?

Ursa is probably my favorite character thus far. The way she dominates and is cruel with her kindness is absolutely umph. I also adore Zurielle’s growth and how she finds a chance to grow with Ursa and Alaric that she couldn’t find with her family in Olympus. I also really like so it starts setting up stuff for upcoming Sabine Valley books with Alaric’s history and getting a closer look at Malone - which makes me very excited for the next book! I think my biggest complaint with this one is one of pacing. The emotional side of the romance in some ways felt sudden, particularly Ursa letting her guard down. I still enjoyed it a great deal, but most especially the tense climax felt very quickly resolved, and so some of the tension wasn’t built up for me.
