i always forget to mark when i’ve completed the book .. “the aim of life is self-development. to realise one's nature perfectly-that is what each of us is here for. people are afraid of themselves, nowadays.” definitely a reread

“Words! Mere words! How terrible they were! How clear, and vivid, and cruel! One could not escape from them. And yet what a subtle magic there was in them! They seemed to be able to give a plastic form to formless things, and to have a music of their own as sweet as that of viol or of lute. Mere words! Was there anything so real as words”

Truly amazingly written and crafted work. Makes you feel a plethora of emotions whilst being surrounded by beautiful imagery

Started to feel like a slog. A lot of needless introspection without any furthering of the plot.

this book is beautifully written and it gives a lesson. i feel that my take away from this book is the opposite of wottons beliefs. everything he said makes you think and find your opinion on things your mind has not yet considered. the ending was fitting. i feel that the middle was slow and the book too vague ( per the time and acts dorian commit) so i docked a star. beauty being out on a pedestal corrupts the soul. if mark 8:36 was a book.
