I love me some arranged marriage man. H and h were so awesome, perfect KA

An interesting idea though the writing isn’t very skillful/is VERY repetitious and the homophobia and misogyny leave a source after taste in your mouth.

A fantasy version of the Highlander books.

Overall, a cute, fun read. There were definitely places where the story tried to be more serious, but I couldn't take it too seriously.

This book had tons of potential, not limited to an interesting premise and decent world building. The FMC was initially intriguing because she was not the standard "firecracker" of romantasy FMCs, but instead a person great at accepting what life brought and making lemonade (the lack of whining/pouting was quite refreshing!). The MMC did start as the typical "gruff, powerful, possessive introvert," but really had no character growth thru-out the plot.

So. It started out great... and then it took a nose dive. Our kind/spunky FMC became a ghost of herself in a relationship increasingly dominated by the MMC. He basically removed all of her independence and free choice (including life-changing personal choices) and she'd get mad for 5min and then felt guilty for getting upset at him - what kind of unhealthy crap is that?!

There was also A LOT of cringe-worthy comments about being homosexual that were just shy of homophobic; this made me really uncomfortable thru-out because the author never explicitly took a stance against that type of prejudice(!!!).

The final straw: i was promised dragons and they had a 15sec cameo at the very end where it's clear the are just mindless automatons controlled by - you guessed it - the MMC. This phenomenon annoys the hell outta me; i picked this book cause dragons and then not really dragons?! WTF?!

I REALLY wanted to enjoy this book, but all of the above - especially the shit treatment of the FMC (which she just accepted like she had Stockholms) and rampant homophobia - ended up leaving me with a terrible aftertaste. The writing wasn't great either, so bleh. I don't recommend this one.

It's been years I've been wanting to read this book. Unfortunately I'm disappointed with it.

DNF at 16%.
