I wanted to give this book a 5, but I think it ended too quickly. I would’ve liked to hear from Mae more about her plan and her thinking.

Unsettling, rage-inducing, and hysterical in equal measure. This book is the ultimate reckoning in the era of the rise of tech giants. It perfectly asks the reader: how far will we go for convenience? Required reading.
As always with Eggers, a well-crafted and engaging read. Lots of interesting ideas and concepts, most pretty scary but also very realistic. The journey is far better than the destination, which - without spoiling anything - almost seems like a too-convenient copout in the end. In that sense, you can say the book failed to do that which it (via its protagonist and narrator) faults so many of us for doing: not going all the way.
Still, it is an important book and touches on themes that way, way too many people are overlooking.

I picked this book up randomly at work thinking it sounded interesting and not knowing that it was the second book in a series but it definitely can be read on its own. I was conflicted about the technology mentioned finding myself wondering what it would be like if it existed and being horrified of the consequences of its existence in the book. So many people use technology everyday without even thinking in this really makes you more aware of what information we are putting out there and who might be listening.
