I love Joy Harjo and knew she would create an incredible project as the first Native Poet Laureate of the United States. This is a really beautiful collection of Native poetry. I love Harjo’s concept of a poetic map of First Nations and giving voices to the best living Native poets in the US. The poets chosen are incredibly diverse and have different experiences to bring to this collection. Each poem is so deep and rich. Highly recommend this as an example of the beauty and depth of Native poetry. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite!
