I'm amazed at how much I loved this book given that I'm not really that into Medieval period romances. But damn this is really a good story of finding love and strength after evil deeds. Would rate it higher but honestly the accent stuff threw me off a lot. I know that's how they would actually talk back then, but trying to mentally translate "ken" to "know" every time is hard

By far one of my favorite Lynsay Sands books. The romance is right, the mystery is right, it's all done right.

Good god this was awful lol

The H’s most notable romantic proclamation is “She bled for me!”

Running for her life, Allissaid takes refuge under Calan's protection. Can they defeat the man who's trying to destroy them both?

These two are a perfect match. Allissaid is loyal, loving, and absolutely fierce. Calan is protective, fearless, and kind. This novel is a smart, steamy, satisfying read.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

"Sword, scabbard, blood, pain."

Yes, our heroine is a virgin. So when her future mother-in-law chooses to "educate" her about what to expect on her wedding night, these four words are all she remembers and it becomes a mantra. He's going to put his sword in her scabbard and there will be blood and pain. LOLOLOLOL. I was dying! Little did our heroine know, her cinnamon roll Highlander Laird, had already gone to this same woman, his MOTHER, to ask her how he can make their wedding night less painful for his lass. He's never bedded a virgin before and he's SO SCARED TO HURT HER and put her off sex forever. The cutest.

I don't read a lot of historical romance from this era because it tends to run darker, with more misogyny, abuse of women, etc. This one had a little of that, but it was off the page, and there was a lot of humor and sweetness to the story.

The male narrator did a great job and I quite enjoyed listening to his accent, although I had to slow down from my usual high speed to catch all the dialogue.

This was a fantastic book!! I loved the couple. They were great. I thought the mom and sister were a hoot and I am hoping that the sister gets her own book!!. While the book was fairly predictable, I still thought it was a fabulous read. It took me an afternoon to read and I would highly recommend this book to others.
