micheala's review against another edition
2.5
This was a case were the MFC had multiple "too stupid to live" moments. Also I was introduced to a variant of the miscommunication trope that takes the cake for worst possible version: MMC clearly communicating that he doesn't want to hurt her (she can't even stand up without pain) or force her into marrying him by ruining her reputation, so they shouldn't have sex, and MFC deciding "nope, they are definitely lying about the very reasonable reason we shouldn't have sex, he just thinks my bruises are ugly"
All the "mystery" aspects were also super obvious and I rolled my eyes in annoyance more than once.
This was the second book in a row that was kinda a dud for me, so I think I'm going to peace out of this series until we get Alick's book (which this book strongly hunted who he'll end up with) and then just read that one.
