I would have said at least a 3.25 if it did not have an SA scene, so that is the only thing that let it get more than a 0. I was not expecting it it literally came out of nowhere and was the only explicit scene in the whole book.

Crying score: no.

With the start of a brand new series, especially fantasy, it’s natural to struggle or get your teeth into because you’re busy getting to know the characters and world.
But the last 60%? I think I’m obsessed.
It’s so fun and exciting and I love the world and how unique it is? Also my first RH and fantasy RH so I’m not the best to tell😂
So fun and entertaining, the main character was so fun and relatable and didn’t once fall into the hole of being insufferable and pathetic.
So good.

2.75⭐️ 2.5🌶️ (1 SA scene not included)

This was out of my comfort zone. Reverse Harem just isn’t for me. From this I’ve found that I am just not a fan of more than 1 love interest in a book.

It’s an entertaining read, bachelor-esk and surprisingly has quite a bit of plot outside of the main relationships. I appreciate the RH clarification in the synopsis from the author. There is also a LOT of cursing in this book.

Forced proximity
One bed
Instalove
Slow burn
Strong friendships
Life on the run
College life

Oil being 19, in college, and forced into living under house arrest isn’t my ideal set up. But the prologue was attention catching, for sure.

It reads as a little bit of a bully romance… but for the world building, kinda-almost-maybe justified? But I hate the name calling (effing B*tch) between main love interests. It feels super disrespectful and foul. Especially from someone, or many, who are supposed to be endgame love interests. I hate it. I don’t even like typing out the words. There was also a SA scene with a love interest. Be aware.

The romance was slow burn, which is good, considering the vitriol that is flying left and right. There is a lot to make up for and any actual romance would have been gross without warming up.

The world building was really minimal, which it being a contemporary romantic fantasy isn’t as important as a high fantasy. But I found a lot to be desired in that area. The magic system is interesting, but very vague.

I actually quite enjoyed the beginning of this series!! It was a little rocky for a minute but it definitely turned around. The pacing is not slow but not quite medium either, I think it just takes a second to get your bearings in the setting and the world. But once you’re in it, the story just takes off. You start to see the many layers of the bonds and how the interact with Oli.

As far as comparing it to ZA, I can totally see why. But the level of bullying we receive in ZA in just simply j matchable lol ZA is like 10 and the bonds are like a 6🥴

I am super excited to see where this series goes and see the continued growth of everyone and their relationships.

OK I need to preface this review by saying the world building is severely lacking, the plot is not very flushed out, and I feel like there’s a lot of holes missing, and the main character can become quite annoying. But nonetheless, I was so addicted, And I couldn’t put it down

The best way I can describe my enjoyment of this book is, it’s like watching reality TV. There’s a lot of components that are skipped or brushed by. The reader is left with a lot of questions and it’s not very deep regarding plot and character development. But is it entertaining? Absolutely.
