”I'm playing to win, Oli. This is one hand I refuse to lose.”

I have heard many many things about ”Broken Bonds” within the past year & I am so excited to be beginning this journey! :)

I want to start off by saying that I adore the premise of this novel — it’s very original + interesting!

While the characters are also intriguing — I can’t wait to delve deeper into their personalities — there were times where they came across as being a bit juvenile? I wish there was better communication amongst all of the characters & not an absurd amount of mentions about things that Oli could never even think to share with her bonds (or the audience, for that matter).

ੈ✩‧₊˚

I am excited to continue the rest of the series & see how all of the relationships progress, though! ♡

I've never been so quickly invested in a book in my entire LIFE. It consumed my thoughts all day every day and I was reading any chance I could get: on my phone while at work in between tasks, walking to my car, while eating, and laying in bed (and losing A LOT of sleep). There was so much hatred and mystery between the full cast of characters and I just wanted to keep going to get any morsel of interaction or answers that I could get. I loved every single second.

Holy blip you guys. I was so not prepared to be obsessed with yet another series and world. But now I read this freaking book, and here we are. Who knew I could care about a complicated system of (polyam) fated mates, but this might be one of the most thrilling depictions of this trope I’ve read. Like, I love that their bonds are almost living writhing things inside of them, and I probably like it more coz the bonds within Oli practically vibrate with the need to be united with their mates, but she cannot and will not let them loose. Oh what a conundrum. Of course they’re all 50 shades of hot, so that doesn’t make it easy either

Doubling back a little, Oleander has been on the run from her 5 fated soulmates (and the world in general) due to some deep dark secrets she holds. Now she’s been found, kicking and screaming, her bonds pissed off at what they think is her bratty insolence. Or most of them are. All of them have their own ways of acting out and reacting to it, most of them making her life miserable, including the classmates at her brand new college, because however can a girl reject her oh so important men? Tis but a scandal. We don’t know a lot about them yet, but let’s do a run down of where I’m at with each of the bonds. Because it is my opinion that matters here 🙃

Atlas Bassinger: he’s tattooed, respectful, considerate, he holds no grudges against Oli. Should make him the perfect boy, but meh, white bread. Except maybe his powers. I was hoping for a twist that didn’t occur.

Gabriel Ardern: poor kicked puppy Gabe, he’s got abandonment issues but he’s hot and sweet. We like him.

Gryphon Shore: Mysterious, calm, a man of few words with unknown depths. A specific act of service earned him major brownie points

Nox Draven: rich raging cünty a-hole. Also professor. I don’t love him yet but let’s face it, seems right up my alley, lord help me

North: ice cold bossy Lord of the manor. Dominating and disdainful stern brunch daddy. Say less. No points for guessing he’s already my favorite, idk what it is about these scathing condescending men that revs my goddamn engine

It’s like if Elena Gilbert were a mouthy brat trying to run from Damon, Stefan, Tyler, Matt, and Elijah (?) when they were all destined to be with her together. And she was the baddest baddie of them all.

Coming back to Olina. Umm Oleander. Oli. A lot of us may read why choose for the multiple heroes but it takes a special girl to withstand all that amorous attention. And let’s face it, strong enough to counter all that BDE. And Oli is 100% that bitch. I love her so much. Even with her penchant for overusing the word freaking. She has a painful past and earth shattering secrets, she’s angry and hurting and can’t even take comfort in the men fated to love and protect her, but in all of that she’s sassy and hilarious and a certified badass, if in a different way from so many fantasy heroines. Even though my jaw dropped when she finally unleashed herself, I actually yelled out fuck that’s hot rather than being horrified. We love a terrifying female. And she still feels like a normal girl while juggling all her issues, dramatically bitching about workouts, comfortable in her curves, and ready to throw down with anyone who wrongs her. Her friendship with Sage is as dear to me as any of her romantic entanglements and I’m ready to see her flourish and thrive into her best self. With all the revelations in the climax of this book, with a promise of more, I can’t wait to shelve all my other reading plans and make my way through these series and get to know these people better.

Started out slow but I think this series has potential.
I can tolerate North, but I hope Nox dies a slow and painful death
