I'm a little disappointed that I guesses the ending so early in the book but it was still a good read. The characters were developed well and I cried at the end. I'm excited to read the next book in the series.

I read this book for three reasons: my envy of my grandma’s reading habits (and a longing for a simpler time when I could read without over analyzing), the covers of the author’s books, which make me want to love them, and the never ending quest to fill the Tana French-shaped hole in my heart. I told myself that maybe it was worth trying because maybe a popular ~inspirational~ Christian author would be somewhat similar in quality if not in exact genre.

I was wrong.

Lots of names with no real definable characters. A killer out of nowhere, but not in a plot twisty way, just... out of nowhere.

Loved the setting as a fellow Yooper. Some of the pronunciations were very off. Interesting plot and a great mystery and story with many levels that all tie together at the end. Overall enjoyable listen and would continue the series. Hoping for more romance.

I have so many things to say about this book, but first of all, WHAT? I’m sorry, she just let the woman who kidnapped her child walk away? That woman was clearly extremely mentally ill. She tried to run away to Chicago with someone else’s child and everyone just agreed to do nothing about it? I have SO many more questions after reading this book. I know it’s not exactly my genre to begin with, but this book was just poorly written in every way.

Why does Naomi act like a 10 year old who has never spoken to a boy before? Why does Anu insist that Bree moves on when it’s only been a few months and the body of her son was literally never found? Why does Fay’s husband trash talk her after she was literally just murdered? Why does the aunt tell Bree that searching for her missing husband and child is the same as running from God? Why does Bree describe one of her best friends as “plain” compared to her handsome husband? So many weird things about this book. So many.

A good mystery that kept my interest yet the characters weren't developed enough for me to remember who was who and who was related to whom. And there were some elements of the story that were a bit unbelievable, thus only 3 stars. Not interested enough to read the rest in the series.

I'm a sucker for good book covers. I know, bad to do that. But, this book was something else. I loved reading it so much that I couldn't put it down. I guess judging a book by it's cover comes in handy. :)

This was a nice mix of a little bit of suspense, a little bit of faith & a little bit of romance. Nothing was over the top and I enjoyed it. Love the setting in northern Michigan!
