this was a really beautiful book and the end made me cry on the subway.
also - if like me, you love an inside look at the behind the scenes of how things get done, this is a great book.

For a political junkie / #WestWing devotee, this is an essential and clear-eyed look into the 10 days leading up to President Obama’s historic 2015 eulogy honoring Rev Clem Pinckney. Read by the author, this is the book to read for a better America.

Beautifully written and such an intriguing look behind the curtain of operations at the White House. I have always loved Obama’s speech style, so getting insight from the person behind those speeches was interesting. Although a lot of the subject material was heavy, it was well balanced with some big wins during that period of Obama’s presidency, which I enjoyed and felt inspiring.
At points it did feel like there were too many details that could’ve been left out bogging down the writing, but overall since is such a good read I didn’t mind

Odd to say this book is refreshing, considering the topics, but I miss Obama's expert oration in our regular news cycle. Hearing from the writer behind many of Obama's most notable speeches reaffirmed that politics can make us better.
