These fan-fiction novels feel somewhat different than the TV show. The main thing is that they are told exclusively from Natalie Teeger's perspective - she's the only narrator. You are not in Monk's head at all and if he happens to be alone or not in Natalie's presence, i.e. if he is in session with Dr. Kroeger - which I loved in the show - then you miss out. I mean, it's great because I love all the characters, but I almost wish the author would use 3rd person perspective or switch perspectives so you could see the world through Monk's eyes or other person's eyes besides Natalie's.

This one felt more mean than fun. Will check out book number three to see if I am going to continue. Monk's character felt even more like a caricature in this one and none of the "professionals" came across that way.

This was such a fun and entertaining read. It was so much like the shows, that I remember anyway, and was great because of that.
Just an all around fun read, a good one if you're looking for a break from serious reading.
