I enjoyed this read. It picked up basically where it left off. Leena and Noc are together and at the the assassin’s guild trying to find a way to get rid of Noc’s oath to kill Leena.
I really enjoyed this the continuation of this story. I also loved there wasn’t a cliche second book lovers spend the whole thing apart and have to work to get back together again - there was some of that at the end but it fit well and obviously didn’t last long.
I really liked that we were able to delve deeper into their world and see not only new places but new beasts. I just wish the beastiary at the end of the book updated with more pictures - especially of the ones that are mentioned more often, cos I have a hard time picturing a lot of the beasts cos I either don’t read the descriptions properly or I just can’t really imagine it. The beasts with pictures really helped tbh and I would love to see more of them.
I am also loving that some of side characters are getting more page time as well as love interests - I’m looking at you Kost. Omg I and loved how much he warmed up to Leena in this book. They all really felt more like a family in this book.
Overall really enjoyed the book. Am so disappointed that the next one isn’t out til December. I’ll have to kill the time with other series!

A frank and unembellished review.

I skipped the intimacy scenes. I found them uneeded and annoying, for I always do. People like those so of course they will be there. I personally do not like them. I guess The Frozen Prince could classify in the romance genre??

I adore the characters, the magical world they reside in, and the fantastic creatures. I enjoyed seeing friendships strengthen. We get a backstory for Noc. It is very hard not to like the grey characters of the Cruor. I could go into the distinct personalities and qualities of the vast cast of characters, but that could be a whole review in itself.

Moving on to tropes: The Found Family Trope is prominent, which is one of my favorite tropes. Of course there are more, but don't feel the need to list them out.

What makes Leena so special to be able to tame someone else's beast? Still don't have answer for that in this second installment of a trilogy.

I want to know what happens next and hope book three (The Shattered Crown [releasing Dec 1, 2021]) is a decent size book to hold all the answers I want. There are so many loose plot threads (relationships, the main plot, what makes Lenna special, Noc's destiny, ect)!!!

Overall, well written and favorite. I do prefer book one: Kingdom of Exiles, but I still enjoyed reading The Frozen Prince.

The cover is wonderful, just like Kingdom of Exiles.

On a side note: There could be issues for those who love to dissect apart the books they are reading and harp, or troll if you will, on anything they find they do not like, particularly looking for some deeper, potentially darker meaning. The whole Noc wanting to kill his lover, Lenna, and dreaming of strangling her because of the magical blood oath he took when he was hired to originally kill her in book one, Kingdom of Exiles, but has yet to due so, so we see the consequences of the decision to recant his blood oath. It's a fantasy novel and should be treated a such!

My review is my own thoughts and opinion; my personal experience in reading this story. Everyone should read the books they enjoy!

Probably closer to a 4.5! The different POVs were well done, and I really enjoyed the unexpected twists sprinkled throughout the book.
