Sometimes small books have big impacts. I'll be thinking about this book for a while and I know I still won't grasp everything in it. Poetic, lyrical, strong and intentional. No sentence is wasted. I thought the deep and jarring truths were brilliantly juxtaposed to the physical setting and bodies within the story and beyond it. I found its structure made me stop and reflect on the racism, classism, and the ways in which we play our social roles that the narrative examines before I could keep going. And yet, I couldn't stop myself from reading it within a few days. It'll stick with you.

I loved the writing style, I wish there was just a tiny touch more plot because I wanted it to be longer TBH. A lot of the British terms went over my head and British politics I kept googling stuff. I’m sure it would’ve been more impactful if I was more knowledgable about British culture
my favorite quote was “in the ostensible privacy of my own thoughts I feel (still) compelled to restrict what I say”
I also liked the poems at the beginning, gave it a fresh start
