I liked the book but i didn't like it as much as I anticipated. The love triangle was still there but I didn't feel anyting powerful going on with Will and Ellie.

First of all, many thanks to Stacey at PageTurners Blog for allowing me to be part of the traveling ARC tour for this book.

After reading Angelfire last year, I was kind of ho-hum about the whole angel book thing. I wasn't blown away by it and hesitated to pick up the sequel. As I read Wings of the Wicked, however, I found that I was being sucked in to the story and enjoying it a lot more. After finishing Shadows in the Silence, I'm glad I continued the series.

It's a fun read that answers questions I had previously. It ties up loose ends nicely, and even gives closure on a couple of things I hadn't realized I wanted closure on. I like the way things progressed, and I like the growth that both Ellie and Will experienced.

When the time came where things, ahem, changed in their relationship, I felt like Moulton did a brilliant job of it. There was an elegance to the scene and I felt like it was handled completely beautifully and appropriately. I wasn't put off by it at all.

There is kind of a big deus ex machina at the end in my opinion, which did end up detracting a bit, because I couldn't quite suspend my disbelief far enough to allow it. It's one that's up to interpretation though. I've heard from a few people who agreed with me on it and a few who didn't. So it really could go either way. In any case, it's not a huge deal and didn't leave me disliking the book.

Overall, I quite enjoyed the end to this trilogy (it's my favorite of the series), and look forward to more of what Moulton puts before us. It's a 3.5 Eiffel Tower book for me.

1438 pages later and I’ve finished reading the Angelfire trilogy by Courtney Allison Moulton. YOU GUYS. Shadows In The Silence was an awesome send off to a series that I was heavily invested and totally sucked into. ALSO! I love it when a series has a big payoff and the ending doesn’t leave me wanting to punch the book in the end, and you guys, the payoff in Shadows In The Silence was fantastic — I feel like as a reader, I got exactly the ending I was hoping for without any sort of contrivance. By that I mean — the ending didn’t feel stupid or fake where everything contrives to be perfect and nothing bad happens, nope instead it just absolutely fit the overall trilogy and yes, some blood was shed along the way. AND TEARS, on my end. And laughs. Pretty much the feels were involved while reading Moulton’s last Angelfire book.

Re-read this trilogy because it's one of my all-time favorites and I'm a sucker for Angel/demon based stories.

Fantastic book, and the ending was happy, so I'm glad, and yeah, just a really great book! I would have thought that the saving Will plot would take longer, but it was only the first 70 or so pages of a 500 or so page novel. But yeah, fantastic book, and there were a lot of great places that they went to on their quest!

I can't believe it's over. I have been with this series since the start. I waited a year in between each book and now it's over. It's sad that there won't be any more books, but at the same time I won't have to wait a whole year for the next one.

However, it's incredibly sad to have to say goodbye to all of the characters I have grown to love. Shadows in the Silence was the perfect end to the trilogy. It was filled with laughs, tears, and sweet moments. In it you can see how much Ellie has grown as a character and the lengths she goes to to protect her friends and the earth.

spoilers below don't read if you haven't read the book.

Spoiler So, I totally thought it would take a long time before Will was brought back, but was only about 100 pages which was surprising. Also, I loved how the relationship between Ellie and Cadan changed to a brother sister relationship which I was thought was really sweet. Near the end when Madeleine was introduced I thought the struggle Will was having was well written. However, I would have loved to see more interaction between them. Then again it was from Ellie's POV. The battle. Oh god, the battle. It was so heartbreaking. Before it I thought the author did an amazing job writing from Gabriel's perspective as Ellie and how it transformed as Will broke through to her. The one thing I didn't like was how Ava died. I thought she would have died in a more badass way than she did. Will and Ellie had me crying at the end. I guess it was a fitting ending, but they totally deserved a happy ending. ANd well then there's the epilogue. It ends on a happy note and hope of what's to come for Will and Ellie.

Overall Shadows in the Silence gets five starts from me, because there was never a dull moment and the characters were written so well. I am sad to see this series coming to an end, but I am so glad that I discovered Angelfire two years ago otherwise I would have missed out on this amazing series.

This book was awesome! The last 100 or so pages had me sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time thinking what's going to happen. It wasn't completely predictable and I loved that! So happy I decided to read this series!
