I read this book twice and I'm thinking about reading it again. I need more of whatever they put in this book and I did spend a deal of time lamenting that it's a standalone. I usually don't like vampire books and I wasn't hoping for much from it, but it performed way above standard.

Mexican vampires x vampire hunters in 1600s Mexico. Inject this into my brain PLEASE! I loved this so much and wish I could read it again for the first time 😭 The lore, the adventure, the love story… so good!! I loved the sprinklings of Spanish and the imagery of the locations. The narration by Diana Bustelo and Gary Tiedemann was very good and kept my attention the entire time. I really loved this.

Read this last year and I just knew I'd be reading again. I actually love it more as an audiobook because the narrators did an amazing job bringing Lalo and Carolina to life. All of the little intricacies of their personalities were much more pronounced. Listening to this definitely cemented this book as a favorite of mine.
