I hope my rating here does not reflect on the works themselves, since they are as they are supposed to be, but rather on the collection as a whole. It is really the translations that were wanting; Plato's part is fine, but the other two are surprisingly weak. Both attempt to translate the respective works into very high, formal language inappropriate to their subjects. It is worse with Epictetus, who by any account was an informal, conversational speaker and shouldn't be forced to say things like "thou wouldst." It was just a poor choice that made both sections unnecessarily difficult to read.
