I read this as an audio book and I don’t know is it was the fact that the males voice was so deep it sounded like a porn audio or whether it was a shit book. I liked the sister of the main character and I think on surface level the characters were diverse but sometimes it just felt like they were there to make the book diverse.

The best way to go into this book, in my opinion at least, is to go in not expecting much. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good things about this book and I particularly like the disability representation which is sorely under-represented in the literary field. However, I believe it is best read as a fun, raunchy at times, quick romance read. It is neither a literary masterpiece nor a absolute car crash and is a great read for inbetween 'heavier', more intense reads. I certainly enjoyed it (for the most part, I found it dragged a little towards the end) and am looking forward to continuing to the triology.

At the 50% mark, I wanted to DFW this book but damn I’m glad I stayed with it. Although I didn’t like the MMC, Rowan, at all in the beginning, he really had a massive character glow up in the second half of this book. I was so grateful he evolved instead of having the author rationalize or excuse his shitty behavior. He was down bad for Zarah and the epilogues gave him the final developments he needed. Also, His groveling was more than just a single apology or brief grande gesture. Given that “show versus tell” was an ongoing theme, I loved how he ultimately won Zarah back and make it count for so many people besides the two of them.
