I really loved this take on Moriarty he is way more interesting to read about than Sherlock Holmes I find how he does things very interesting. I love the characters so much especially William he is willing to do things most people would not to change how terrible the aristocratic society is. The other characters are also entertaining to read about the older and the younger of the Moriarty brothers are both unique in their own ways. I really loved the plot first it told how everything started and moved on to doing cases for people I really liked how it all played out.
Moriarty came from nothing, but was adopted into a noble family. He hates the current system where nobility looks down on the poor and treats them like dirt, so he vows to change the system. #MoriartythePatriotVol1 #NetGalley

The start of Moriarty's clever crimes, back to childhood. A fairly grim view of the world, but with clever plots, and dark justice.
Great and interesting start to the series. I love a good detective story and am interested in where James will go to achieve his goal.
I love reimaginings of popular literary characters, especially ones as rich and nuanced as Moriarty. Stories that speak about class divisions, family structure, and the power of individual will always fascinate me. Moriarty as the underdog certainly was a new take on the character, though I admit at times the characterizations seemed a little one-sided and overbearing.
The artwork was lovely and the story interesting. I can't wait to see what comes next! Hopefully we will get the rest of the volumes in translation.

In 19th century Britain, Moriarty fights to overturn the class system. He hopes to create a fairer society, taking the power from nobles and ridding the world of evil.
This was a unique take on the characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock did not feature at all in this volume. The story instead reimagined Moriarty as an orphan who, along with his brother, was adopted into a noble family.
Aside from the names of characters and Moriarty being a genius, there was very little here to link it back to the original characters. This could have been a completely new story with new characters and it wouldn't have affected anything.
I very much liked the idea behind this: an origin story of Moriarty where he did not start out as a villain. Unfortunately, I don't think this was well executed here.
