I love Linden and Jasper!

This is such a sweet book. Linden and Asher are a great couple who have to work hard to get their HEA, but they make it happen. The supporting characters are also fantastic. Minor quibble because it’s a pet peeve - y’all is a contraction for you all - you don’t say y’all to one person (or cat as the case may be). Read B it - you’ll enjoy it for sure!

It feels like I didn’t get to know the characters full well, but I liked their love story. I was not interested in the few conversations when Jasper talked about politics, and I wish there were more information about Linden’s work, like seeing him in action. Other than that I had a good time reading this book. Also Linden and Jasper are bi, from what I understood, so that was new to me since I hadn’t read a book with the two main characters being part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Another thing I loved was Linden’s family. His relationship with this brother and sister was amazing and his mom was so fun to read. I wanted to read all about them. Or maybe just a boom about that family, I bet they have so many great stories.
I have to confess at first I wasn’t connecting with the characters, but I eventually did, so because if that is the reason I’m not giving this book a higher rating, but overall I liked it and I would recommend it a lot. Just be aware of some trigger warnings.

I took my time to savor this book by reading it unlike all the other books I usually read. I read Jasper and Linden's story piece by piece over the span of a few days to truly appreciate their story.

Jasper and Linden's story is so unique in so many ways from their sexualities, personalities, and their careers. Linden's career is amazing and fits perfectly within his personality, his love for nature and trees was so evident in all of his and Jasper's scenes in the woods. I loved the scenes where he taught her about the types of plants and trees because you could feel his excitement and enthusiasm for his career. Jasper on the other hand was the complete opposite, and considering her career is one I wanted to do for a while, that's easy to say. Jasper's job was full of bad moments and life realization about what she really wants from life and I loved how Linden was able to see this before Jasper was.

Jasper and Linden's bedroom scenes were off the charts, they were amazing, addictive, and so personal to them individually, their personalities fit so well while they were together. I absolutely loved Jasper and Linden and loved this book! I highly recommend anyone to read this book about two people figuring out what they want from life and how to get it!

Parts of it I loved, parts of it felt like they hit too close to home. FMC gets fired from her job in politics and has a crisis because that’s how she defined herself for so long. Also she has a hard time stating her needs. I didn’t love how the MMC immediately picked up on this and called her out on it, it made me feel defensive. Also the plot felt a little meandering. But the bad events in the both of their pasts felt well integrated into the story, it didn’t feel like trauma just dumped into the narrative solely to make the characters scared of relationships.

I tried this initially at release and got bored. I set it aside and figured I’d try again. Welp, it took me almost a year to do so, but the same problems are here. There are giant swaths of nothing but exposition and it made for SUCH a boring read. I’m super disappointed because I generally love Kate’s books. Sadly, this one wasn’t for me. DNF 37%

Read the other books in the trilog  first.
