Ngl, the stereotype about pansexual people doesn't sit right with me. Jasper having a group sex and his mother implying that he can date more than one person, just because he's attracted to more than one gender, make me
reflective slow-paced

Spice level 3/5

This was a surprisingly great read. I expected a fun light typical romance. But there was good emotional depth, really likable characters, and clever banter. (Even if some over the top sexy scenes).

I haven’t read a contemporary romance in what feels like such a long time! From the writing style to the real frustrations and developments the characters go through, this book delivers. And when I found out that the siblings have their own books? Count me in.

Meh... not bad, not great. Closer to 2.5. The ~sexual~ tension just seemed really forced especially at the beginning. They grew into it, but the beginning was just too much to be natural the way the characters were written. But the character development was great which pushed it up to three stars rather than two

this book was a solid read! i’m torn between giving it a 3 or a 3.5 but there was a lot here that worked for me.

the best thing about this book was the writing. it was really high quality and it made the book stand out from other romances. the metaphors and atmosphere that was created was also great and i felt myself transported to these little cabins in new england. as for the characters, i thought jasper was a really good fmc - she was definitely, definitely flawed but in my opinion that made her more interesting. she was super annoying at times but she underwent some really good development in this book. as for linden, while not my favourite mmc i’ve read he is definitely a really good gentle, alpha character. i can see a lot of people falling in love with him. i really enjoyed the wider cast of characters too!

as for things i didn’t get on with as much, i thought the book felt quite emotionally distanced from the characters. i feel like there could have been more emotional narration and a bit more introspection from jasper especially - i think it would have made me root for her more. i also found the plot quite boring - i honestly don’t care much for american politics so to have jasper’s career centre round it i didn’t really enjoy much.

overall, i can definitely understand the good reviews but there were just a couple of elements for me that fell flat because of personal preference.
