Favorite Novik book that I’ve read. Enjoyed the counter play of fire and ice, as well as the diverse narrator viewpoints

A really interesting concept but I just couldn’t get into it. I listened to the audiobook and the constantly shifting first person POV was a bit awkward. Not sure if the print version did a better job handling that. Overall I’m glad I read it but it’s not winning any prizes from me.

The characters are compelling and I was intrigued by the story with a couple of fairy tales interwoven throughout. I thought the pots and storylines were seamless with each other and made sense as we moved back and forth between them. The pacing is just right for the story, never dragging or rushing. The atmosphere is outstanding and pulls you into the story.

If you are a fan of The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden, or like strong female characters, you will also like Spinning Silver.

I loved Uprooted so much, and I was nervous that Spinning Silver wouldn't measure up. To my delight, I think I loved Spinning Silver even more!

Naomi Novik has such a way of weaving her magical fairytale elements with characters and settings that feel real. In particular, the way she wove together the fantastical world and Judaism was so beautiful! The world of the Staryk was so vivid and strange without feeling ridiculous. Overall, I just really really enjoyed this book.

I hope Novik writes more books like this, because they just keep getting better.
