Where You End

Abbott Kahler

3.18 AVERAGE

Where You End is a story of mirror twin sisters. One lost memories and the other tries to rewrite the past for both of them. Jude and Kate have a traumatic and turbulent past and after the accident, Jude tirelessly helps her sister to come back to life, but demons of the past eventually hunt them.
I loved the dynamics between the sisters. Along with Kate, who lost her memory, we get to uncover the secrets one by one, until the big reveal.

For once, I wasn't there for a shock value, and that was a good thing because the plot twist didn't do much for me, but the mysterious atmosphere and the uncertainty and anxiety of not knowing what was going on were prevalent. Also, I think that the audiobook version did so much more for me than simple text because the narrators added to the characters' personalities. Each sister had her own voice.

The thing the twins deal with makes me uncomfortable. It was written well enough, just not as good as ai was expecting. Cults are so gross.

Interesting enough. Definitely went down a road I wasn’t expecting but I kept wishing it was more. Nothing special. Maybe 2.5 rounded up.

DNF @ 45%

It wasn't that it was bad, but I just couldn't keep going. I didn't connect with the characters and the book felt like it was slow. I enjoyed the past and the present part of the chapters. It gave insight in the past, but for me it just wasn't enough for me to want to continue.

Regrettably, I did not finish this book, stopping about 100 pages in. I attempted both the print and audiobook versions. Despite the excellent narration of the audiobook, I just couldn't engage with the story. I failed to connect with the characters, and despite multiple attempts to return to it, I made no progress.

Thank you @henryholtbooks and @macmillan.audio for the #gifted copies! This one comes out TOMORROW.

A book about a cult?! Sign me up. I knew immediately after reading the synopsis that I needed this book.

Overall, this was a strong mystery read. The first half was fast paced and had me guessing. I was hooked. Maybe it was just me, but the second half was a bit hard to follow? All the characters lost me a bit and started to get jumbled in my mind.

But I think a lot of folks will like this one, so I recommend giving it a try!
