This book was heavy, heavier than expected. There was a slow start, but once we reached the 20% mark it ramped up quick. I usually don't love amnesia plots, but the tension was done so well I let it pass. When it came to the past I could already guess where it was heading just from the first interaction with Bash. With every "then" chapter of Jude's it felt like watching a train wreck in slow motion. I couldn't believe the amount of people who let this happen for so long and to so many. The final confrontation between the twins and Verona was so good, to see Jude speak in their language. A mother who betrayed them for years....crazy.

Maybe 2.5? This felt like the outline of an interesting book, and the story itself was certainly intriguing. It’s also a fast read. The problem is I didn’t care at all about the characters. It just felt like a lot of moving from point to point where there was no emotional context. I get some of it was meant to be vague but it never really hit the emotional depth I would expect with this kind of story.

I’ve had this ARC forever and apologize for taking so long.

So, my experience with this book was much like if you were at a party and the person you were talking to just casually peed into the punch bowl. Maybe they are a really interesting person. Maybe I'd really enjoy getting to know them, but there is zero hope I am going to be able to think anything but, "Oh my God, this is the disgusting person who peed in the punch". Like that's a real ick factor. Well, that was kind of my experience here. When one of the first things Kat does when we meet her is find and use her twins vibrator, I just could not move past it. That is a bit too much twin enmeshment for me. I ended up DNFing shortly after.

I’m not going to give spoilers which is.. very hard given my favorite aspect is also their whole past and what fuels the storyline. But I loved learning about their past // hated it in the best possible. I loved piecing together why what happened, happened. We stan strong female leads who take no prisoners and handle their business. But this book should have just been titled lost your memory? Let’s gas light you. It obviously all made sense in the end but I found myself angry at the characters enough to want to quit a few times. I wish their mom was #4 honestly. I think I would have liked it so much more if there was true closure but it felt like after finally learning what we needed to know, we didn’t get any. Yes, there obviously still was some. But I was too mad. I may have liked it more if I had read a physical copy vs listening to the audiobook and the reading time itself wasn’t extended.
