This was not what I expected, and unfortunately, I mean that in a not-so-great way. The idea behind this novel fascinated me: twins, memory loss, and a cult. Throw the creepy bunny masks on the cover and I was IN.

The thing is - this book was just boring. It dragged for me. The beginning started strong before turning repetitive... then I kept assuming it'd take hold and get interesting but instead, it started to completely lose me. It's got a lot of lying and a general theme of evasiveness, a revenge plot, a random romance, trauma, and a touched-on cult exploration. I feel like it had so much potential but for me, it did not deliver.

Honestly, I finished this primarily because I listened to it and had the time while doing things around the house today. If I had not done this on audio, it probably would have been a DNF for me.

This was one of those books that I didn't necessarily *love* immediately after reading, but I will be thinking about it years down the road.  3.5 stars initial review

Least favorite book of 2025 so far. 😭
I went into this thinking it would be a thriller/horror about twins that get in a car wreck and one sister loses her memory. The other sister seems to be lying about their past as she tries to help her remember everything about their lives.
But as their past life is being revealed, it’s actually about them being in a cult in the 70’s and some crazy things they experienced.  There wasn’t much thriller OR horror.

It’s so hard to explain but I had a major ick feeling the entire time reading this book. And even when mundane things were happening, there was just an uneasy feeling, which I presume was done on purpose. I can’t really put my finger on why. This led to me not looking forward to reading this book and I almost DNF’d it about 3 times. I honestly wish I had.
Note to self: READ REVIEWS before buying anymore books!
