So no book is perfect. But this came pretty close. I loved these tales of Krampus! I highly suggest reading this to anyone! Really. You just can't go wrong!

Villainess Ascending by Steven Grimm - 2 stars

Sort of a Cinderella retelling but Cinderalla is a major jerk. And I wasn't sure what I was supposed to think about the story over-all. They didn't care about what Cinderella had gone through at all to see things from her pov and why she might be that way (though that doesn't excuse her being a jerk). Are good girls just meant to be servants? It kept me engaged though.

He Sees You When You're Sleeping by Lissa Marie Redmond - 4.25 stars

Normally i'm protective of Krampus and he's just a bad guy in this story but it's hilarious and I really enjoyed it. Though the random romance was random.

Santa's Little Helper by Beth Mann - 5 stars

I love this version of Krampus!

The Business of Christmas by Anya J. Davis - 5 stars

A favorite! Such good messages too. This is how I like my Santa and Krampus.

Schadenfreude by E.J. Hagadorn - 1.5 stars

Meltdown and temper tantrums aren't the same thing and that's a temper tantrum. I do like this line though "Saint Nicholas. Shouldn't you be spying on little kids like the creep you are?" But I do not like this Krampus personally, though i'd be lying if I said I didn't get a little kick out the ending.

Family Tradition by S.E. Foley - 1.5 stars

TW: Fire (which is a trigger for me). I didn't like anything about this story but it's a me thing.

Krampus: The Summoning by Brad P. Christy - 5 stars

Oh I love this one!

The Outfit by Ross Baxter - 2 stars

I am confused. I mean I know what happened, but i'm confused on how I feel about it.

Family Night by Nancy Brewka-Clark - 3.5 stars

That was cute lol.

A Winter Scourge by Tamsin Showbrook - 3.5 stars

I enjoyed this story. Some stories I just don't have a lot to say about.

Bad Parents by E.M. Eastick - 2 stars

I was enjoying it until the very ending. Call me a bleeding heart then. I had more faith in them.

Memo From Santa by Jude Tulli - 3 stars

I think this one is calling out the consumerism of Christmas? Either way I was looking at the story like o.O the entire time I read it.

Over-all 3.19 and I did enjoy this. Even the stories I didn't like might give me inspiration for something.

I had a very good time reading this. Lots of creativity in this entire collection! As with all collections though, there are a few weaker stories in here. But all the stories are still worthwhile, and the strong outnumber the weak.

I must admit that I did enjoy Kate Wolford's other Krampus collection "Krampusnacht" a little bit more than this one. But this was still a fun read. It definitely satisfied my need for Krampus-themed content to help me get into the "Creepmas" spirit.

I really liked the spin that the authors put on an "old" character. Favorite story was Villainess Ascending which presented a new take on the Cinderella story.

** Full disclosure: I received this book in exchange for an honest review**
The 'Tales of Krampus' is a collection of short stories that is apparently a companion to an earlier book 'Krampunsnacht: Twelve Night of Krampus,', which I have not read but I did not find that this caused any problems in reading this one, all of the stories I read seemed fine as stand alone's.

This is a fun, fun collection, even the weakest of the stories (which for me is a tie between Villainess Ascending and Santa's Little Helper) had fun elements and felt worth reading. I don't even think I could pick a favorite out of all of them to be honest. They were all so different and touched on a variety of genres and for all that this collection focuses on Krampus, for me it actually did a good job expressing the more positive or even realistic themes of family and Christmas so I'm glad I read it at Christmas time when I sort of needed a pick me up...which now seems odd to type considering how dark some of the stories got...
I enjoyed this collection so much and I am so excited about the new authors I've just been introduced to as well as the other collections offered by this publisher, which I've added to my to be read list.

Editor Kate Wolford writes that this book is a companion to "Krampusnacht: Twelve Nights of Krampus." Having read both collections, I would have to concur. If you haven't read the first book, don't worry, each book can stand on its own.

If you're not familiar with Krampus, he is originally from Europe and could be considered the dark brother of St. Nicholas. Bad children fear Krampus, for he will beat them with his ruten (stick) or put them in his bag and carry them away. "He Sees You When He's Creepin'" features twelve talented writers, each giving us their own view of Krampus. Story genres range from fantasies to fairy tales to everyday reality.

Each writer presents a different view of Krampus. While some describe him as a giant, burly fiend, others picture him as a pitiful creature, caught in a legend that he didn't create. This is the holiday magic of this collection. It is like a pile of presents beside the tree. One never knows what is inside until the story is unwrapped, but each one is sure to delight. Five stars.
