I enjoy hearing the authors read their works - they give the text their intended emphasis and their accents are a bonus :)

I got this book from the library on the advice of a blog I read.
There are some ideas in here that could save a relationship, or in my case, provide strength to a new marriage. My only issue was the Christian slant, which while not blatant, still seemed to colour the book with some old school beliefs about gender roles.
The small section at the end about children's love languages was very informative, I soaked that up because I'm a new mom.
The writing was a little simplistic, but there were still some valuable peices of advice about understanding your partner.

some of the info in later chapters encouraging people to stay with abusers I find pretty gross and the book is blazingly heteronormative (tho weirdly non-sexist?) but overall I found the book useful

Although this book is for married couples, I really enjoyed it as it taught me a lot about my friend and families love langue as well as myself. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more in depth about the different love languages and the dialects of these languages. A lovely suprise was finding out the author is a Christian and references multiple scriptures on the teachings of Jesus. Recommend if you want to be more aware of how you can fill your own and your loved ones emotional tank
