It had a sort of indie sci-fi vibe, which I really liked, and the overall setting is super original and cool.

However, you are thrown into this book with very little introduction to the various terms. Drudge, Nameless, Spinner, Bride, etc. all show up within the first chapters with too little description by far for me to follow what's going on. I have yet to know what a 'sympathiser' is in this book, although it surely has been mentioned like a thousand times already.

Not to mention that the characters in this book are frankly written in a very shallow way. This one character is described multiple times as completely useless (so why's he even there?), and then there's the tough emotionless woman that seems in reality exactly as useless. Not to mention that the main character, despite his cool tattoo, is completely unlikeable and hard to relate to. Twisted characters I enjoy reading the POV's of, but this one is just ... boring. So very classic stoic borderline sexist. He keeps drooling all over this woman who he knew a long time ago, and repeatedly dreams about how young and 'untouched by womanhood' she looked. Doesn't sit right with me, I dunno.

The names are silly, too. I'm very sorry if your name is Nenn. Change it./hj Ryhalt Galharrow was cool, though.

Well, that's what I thought about this book. Maybe I'll give this another try another time and understand more then, but that time is not now. I have studying to do, and you bet your ass that I won't spend my reading-time on this.
Very sad, because the cover was hella cool, and I love Crowfoot, who will probably turn out to be a rapist and/or pedophile later in the book.
