This is a beautiful book; it's Conversations With Friends set in 1920s Paris. The characters are so damaged in a way that mirrors the most broken parts of human existence. Definitely better than Gatsby.

Favorite Fitzgerald book. He wrote this after reading Freud.

Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby is a favorite so I read this, his last novel. It doesn’t compare; the story is lacking and the characters are idle adult brats who are always in hotels and cafes playing at being witty.

I read it fast (not much skimming) to be done with it.

so so boring
