I really loved this book. I enjoy Historical Fiction and did not know a lot about the Lindbergh's prior to this. I've added Reeve's Lindbergh's book to my 'to read' list as well. It's hard to imagine how famous they were during their time; that kept me a little awe struck throughout the book. I couldn't think of anyone to liken them to by change-the-world-accomplishment instead of just celebrity status. Great book about life, love and family. Highly recommend.
I loved loved loved this book! The book is about Anne Morrow Lindbergh and her life when she becomes Charles Lindbergh's life. The characters are developed beautifully and though it was a work of fiction, I learned a lot about that time and the media frenzy that was the Lindberghs. I even slowed down at the end of the book because I didn't want it to end. Haven't felt this way about a book in a long time.
I did not know what to expect when I started reading this book because I knew very little about the Lindbergh's, but I found this book to be an interesting read. It was heartbreaking for several reasons. The main reason was because the relationship between Charles and his wife Anne was just depressing. Part of that probably was the time in history and the role of women, but part of it was Charles' closed-off and troubled personality. This is definitely historical fiction, so most of the book is just the writer's imagination. I wonder how far off she was or if it was at all what was truly felt by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. This book made me want to learn more about the Lindbergh's.

I've reviewed this book on the strengths of the author alone and not the Lindberghs. There was not much to like about Charles Lindbergh whose personality dominated and shaped the narration and life of Anne Morrow. In Melanie Benjamin's book about "Mrs. Tom Thumb" the main character is also not very likeable. However, because the book is told from her perspective we understand her motivations even if we don't agree with them which made the book much more enjoyable than "The Aviator's Wife".
I find myself loving historical fiction more than I ever I thought I would. The author did a great job painting a picture of what the Lindbergh's life was like, especially Anne the focus of this book. Although as I read more of these types of books, I'm finding that my romanticized versions are very unlike the true version.
What a courageous woman Anne Morrow Lindbergh had to be, to do what she did during a time when women lived very different lives. And, to be married to a man like Charles Lindbergh, who I felt was kind of a jerk....that's a different kind of courage. I alternated between feeling sorry for Anne and being angry with her for putting up with him. LOL. Really enjoyed this book.
Wow - thoroughly enjoyed this biographical novel, which I read on a whim. This is the story of Anne Morrow Lindbergh, wife of aviator Charles Lindbergh. I knew little about him and even less of his wife, and found it an awe inspiring story. Whilst this is a novel, the author explains that her poetic license is with the emotional descriptions of the characters- the majority of the story is fact. I had no idea this couple were the first real victims of the paparazzi, hounded in a way that wouldn't be tolerated today. They suffered the kidnapping and murder of their infant son under the glare of constant publicity, and were forced to live their lives in disguise for any element of privacy or normalcy.
I was interested to learn more about Charles Lindbergh and his achievements, but found the story of his wife's overshadowed achievements inspiring and am now interested to read some of her own writings.
A cracking good read, well written and well worth it. I'm now keen to see how the film compares....this is also an excellent "book club book" and discussion questions are available.

This story was increasingly frustrating to read. Charles & Anne Lindbergh had a completely dysfunctional marriage and each time Anne bit her tongue and complied with whatever inconsiderate, stupid idea her husband came up with, I wanted to scream at her to have more self-respect. She does find it, though late in life and there are some positives to her story. I was hoping to read about a wife that, though overshadowed by her husband's success, finds herself and grows into a strong, self-supported woman. Unfortunately, I did not get that.
