So I read an entire book just to learn that her husband is an ass :/ no thanks! There were a few redeeming moments but over all this book was a no for me!
I have never been more happy to finish a book...I almost didn't. It demonstrated how deplorable the relationships between some couples at that time were male directed. The wife, merely the doer of what the man wanted.
It is about the relationship between 'Lucky Lindy' Lindburgh and his wife were. HORRIBLE!! I cringed so much I almost gave it up multiple times. Hence my rating. I would never recommend this book to anyone.
The writing was ok but the characters completely devoid of any trait worth knowing about.

I thought the press we have now is bad, but for
Charles Lindbergh and his wife, it sounded dangerous and also deadly! Anne, was an amazing woman to deal with all this and also learn to fly. Want to read her book, Gift from the Sea, soon

With about a third of the book to go I set it down and never picked it up again. I didn't miss it. Anne Morrow Lindbergh was such an accomplished and remarkable woman, this novel could have been so much more.
For a fiction novel, I think the author captured Anne's voice beautifully, and that was my primary concern in reading this. Also appreciated was the emphasis put on Anne's talents and achievements.
While I really enjoyed this book, there was many times I wanted to punch Charles for how he treated his wife and children. I'm giving it 3 stars because while I loved the history aspect of the book. It was the way Charles treated his family that it didn't make it a higher rating.
Beautifully written. Enjoyed it much more than I expected.

Historical fiction about Anne Morrow Lindbergh, wife of the world-famous aviator. This one had me looking up news articles and more on the Lindberghs, and of course it's not 100% true but I learned a great deal. One of the reasons I love historical fiction. Some reviewers have complained of not liking the main character, seeing her as weak. I disagree. Her marriage was far from perfect, she lost a child in a horrific crime, she didn't get recognition for many of the huge firsts as a tremendous woman aviator in her own right, and her family was ridiculously hounded by the paparazzi more than most modern-day celebrities -- but she was a strong woman.
