A very slight book. An adventure story of a caper/ heist with the cast of Star Wars. Not much else.
If you're looking for a Star Wars tale free from a lot of serious themes and storyline, but full of adventure, this might be the book for you. I caught one major plot hole. It bothered me, but not enough to make me put the book down. I think it might have if my expectations had been higher. I was just looking for a light fun read and that's what I got. If you're looking for a book heavily oriented on Han, this isn't it. Han is included in the cast of characters, but much of the time the perspective follows others in the group. The book makes me want to read a full length novel about Lando, though!
I enjoyed the story, though a heist plot generally doesn’t interest me. I would not have read it if it wasn’t Star Wars. Some of the complications for the heroes felt a little too repetitive. Some characters were interesting, while some others could have been merged for a tighter story.
The premise of this story was Ocean's 11 if it took place in the Star Wars universe. This was an entertaining read for Star Wars fans. Perfect for an airplane trip or quick summer reading.
I shouldn't be surprised this was a disappointment, but I still am. The buzz was good and it's set in a time period that I thought wouldn't be as plagued with all the boring EU nonsense, but I was wrong. Like the most of the other SW novels I've attempted or rolled my eyes at, this one's downfall was not enough of the characters I love and too much convoluted intrigue with characters I wasn't convinced to care about and will, as far as I know, mostly never see again.
Bonus points for some nice ribbing at the "Han shot first" (um, Han was the only one who shot!) moment. Bonus points removed for sticking Han in the classic Indy boulder chase moment. Too much.

A fun and quick read. It is Oceans Eleven Star Wars style
A nice little heist tale that depicts Han and Lando at odds and suspicious of one another, which is a nice change. I think my biggest criticism is that I never got a sense of what any of the characters looked like, though their personalities all came through. Also, there's an end twist that I am very ambivalent about. I saw it coming and really wanted to be wrong.
