First, I loved the strong bond between Bryce and Danika. It’s the strong female friendships that Sarah Maas creates that makes her stand out to me as an author. I never knew how much I craved those strong bonds until I read her books. And I love her for it. ❤️

The world Maas creates in this book is stunning but there’s a bit too much forced exposition (something I think Maas struggles with). Hunt honestly wasnt likable until he betrayed Bryce but that just may be the radical revolutionary in me. Like during the first half of the book I found myself siding more with the rebel terrorists than Bryce and Hunt, who kept judging the rebels while doing nothing to fight the hierarchy. Hopefully they fight the system in the next book.

I literally don’t even know where to begin with this book? The first 250 pages had me reeling my brain HURT y’all from world building. I truthfully wasn’t super into the murder mystery vibes until literally the last 30% of the book had all the plot twists and I was gaping and shook at everything that happened in each chapter. Then the last 10% had me crying and shook every other page it was insane. I rode the crescent city roller coaster and that’s the only way to put this

I had to start this one twice, because it was sooo terribly slow. The story didn’t seem to start and the plot went everywhere. I stared it again because I did like the character designs. I was about to DNF this one, but I do ended up liking it. SJM isn’t known for being the best writer, and this one definitely had some plotholes/a bad plot that was all over the place, but like most of her books it was an enjoyable brainless read so I did end up liking this!
