Hands down the best SJM book I’ve read so far. Her writing has improved ten fold in comparison to ACOTAR.

Bryce being super against an “alpha” male personality is handled in a way that’s really cliché. Annoying but whatever.
I also feel that hunts actions in a certain part of the book don’t make sense? We get a lot of his internal dialogue and really get to know him as a character outside of his relationship with Bryce. So some of the actions that took place-while a cool plot twist, doesn’t actually make sense when you really look at the text.  I wish SJM was able to build tension with our characters in a different way while still maintaining that plot twist.

the last 200 pages killed me, in a good way

Loved the characters, loved the action, loved the dialogue.

What didn't I love? The fact that the middle 300 pages were useless filler. The fact that the romance was cheesy. The fact that the characters do entire 360's close to the end of the book and randomly reveal a bunch of secrets. Also, somehow even though they lied to each other so much, they're just randomly able to overcome all the lies and love each other??? What??? Also, SOOO repetitive. The author wrote about the same shit over and over and over again until the action started.

This is the review of my reread ; obviously ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ wow wow wow
This book is incredible! Every single time I read I feel like I love more and more. My first read ; it took me 200 pages to get into the storyline but then moved like butter. In my reread was lowkey similar I found myself dragging until half way point then couldn’t stop reading after 50% mark. I don’t remember how many time I cried and how many times I have felt such an intense emotions. I truly love this book so so much! It’s truly incredible especially the last 200 pages and how captivating it was!

3.5 I liked it but I didn’t love it. I think this is the kind of story I would really appreciate in my teens though. I loved the loyalty and love, but things felt very clear-cut in many ways. For one, I wasn’t questioning character motives, and most importantly it just didn’t grip me. Even towards the end, I wasn’t at the edge of my seat despite all that was going on. The female main character felt too perfectly created as well, to the point where even her flaws could be conventionally perceived as positive attributes. Even the turn of events and the way the plot unfolded for her, felt too perfect. Fantasy is fantasy, but I want the characters to feel real, and I just didn’t get that from this one.

You know that meme of Mr. Krabs is looking like what next yeah this book mirror that emotion perfectly!
I swear if you're anything like how I was reading this book the last chapters will have OMG on repeat in different inflections.
All I know is can't wait to see how Bryce and Hunt story continues in book 2!

I had no expectation for this book, and I have LOVED it.
Long, but I raced through it
I'm not a crier, but I sobbed quite a few times towards the end
I didn't find the beginning hard or confusing, but I didn't try to remember everything being introduced, I just got on with it and all became clear.
I'm a harsh critic, but I give this 5 stars.
