Conflicts being resolved with communication like actual adults? Both main characters being characteristic and humorous? We love to see it!
Unexpectedly wonderful
This book was wonderful. I loved the characters, the dialogue, the banter back and forth between everyone. My only complaint is that the boom was too short. I was so engrossed, and I loved the characters so much that I didn't want it to end.

Getting School was such a fun entertaining read and I have no clue why I have been putting this one and highly recommend that you listen to this one is audio, its so SUPERB. I really was drawn into this one so quickly, and we do have some fun elements and a bit of a "Student Teacher love " trope but not quite. The heroine is more of a teacher assistant but she does grade the hero's paper so there is that haha I really got hooked on this author's writing style and just wanted to see more of this couple. My only complaint is that it was too short and too abrupt of an ending. I would have liked more happy couple page time, as it had a more HFN ending instead of a HEA ending. The romance was sweet and endearing and the fun bantering between these two was delectable. I am definitely going to be picking up more of this authors work because now I see why she is so well loved and popular. Her writing style has a level of charm that is unique and I need MORE! haha

3.75 So this was a cute story and I did enjoy it. It didn't wow me or super suck me in, but I did like it. One aspect I loved was the banter between the main characters. I'm not sure why I didn't love this more, I liked the characters, but this wasn't a book that made me hate putting it down. It is enjoyable, just didn't consume me.

Sergeant Jason Wright: *breathes*
Me: *hyperventilating* Sir, yes sir!
I pictured Sergeant Wright as McKinley Freeman the entire time and that helped. That helped a lot! 🥵😂😂

CW: reference to parental death, cheating (not the MCs), PTSD, anxiety, depression
⭐ Enemies to lovers
⭐ Black romance
⭐ Cinnamon roll hero
🌈 Black MMCs
🌈 Disability rep (amputee)
🌈 Mental health rep (PTSD)
Uggggggh I loved this so much 😭 Yet another enemies to lovers, that's fairly light on the enemies, huge on the lovers, with witty and snarky banter which just soothed the soul.
Reese and Jay just made the perfect pairing. Just enough opposites in personality to balance one another out, but still manage to be perfect for one another.
A huge part of my love for this came from the disability representation. Jason is an army vet who lost his leg and has a prosthetic. At no point in the book does the heroine view this in a pitying light, it's openly discussed and embraced as part of the character. With Reese, she has PTSD from the loss of her father, but it's not a defining characteristic, where trauma is used as a whole backstory and damages her relationship.
Neither character relies on self sabotaging behaviours and is honest and open about who they are as people and just worked so well together.
I swear, I could've read about these two for another 200 pages.
