A good book but...
I have recently fell in love with Christina Jones and Love Belin!! The ending leaves more to be desired but all in all good book.

I really need to dig into more of Christina C. Jones. This was so fun! I love the humor, especially between the parents (the gold digger bit had be rollin'). There were lines where I was just grinning like a fool and giggling out loud. The audio is totally the way to go. It's available in the Audible Plus catalog and on (my) Hoopla.
3.5 stars rounded up. I picked this up because I saw Talia Hibbert recommending it as a good KU romance read, and it did not disappoint. It does lose at least half a star because she's his TA, but I still really liked it.
This was such a fun book! A great hate to love romance, the main characters had so much chemistry and the banter between them was great. Also, I really enjoyed Jay's relationship with his family as well as Reese's relationship with her mom and Devin; including those relationships added a lot to the stories.
I very much enjoyed this read, taking place in a college setting. Praise be it's not a new adult (though it has new-adult-ish elements). Both of the leads are mature. The male lead is wonderful, an amputee-vet who just wants to be treated as the capable man he is. I LOVED the sassiness of the lady-lead - she is so full of snark. #relate.
There's some insta-lust here, and the narrative voices border on tell-not-show, but overall, it was a great read, putting black characters in a world so dominated by the white ones who have a monopoly on success. I am happy to read the next one!

Ya'll know I've been on this CCJ binge and I haven't looked back. Everything that she writes is golden and I've been loving my journey in reading a lot of her stuff! 4.5 Stars. CW: death of a parent
Getting Schooled is hate to love done so well. It focuses on Reese and Jason. Reese is a heroine with a troubled past who attempts to get her life on tract and eventually becomes a graduate assistant. It is through her work that she meets Jason who is maybe just a tad bit rude and pushes Reese's buttons like other. What happens next is nothing short of a hilarious and beautiful romance filled with chemistry and some of the best banter. As I have stated in previous reviews, CCJ is gifted at characterizations. She makes her characters both realistic and likeable. Jason and Reese are like oil and water at first. They do not get along and they have no intentions of getting along. The pure sexual attraction that they have is undeniable, but they can't stand each other so the back and forth is pure gold. As a reader, you can't help but anxiously await for them to figure things out. While I think that most of this novel is fun, there are some serious moments where the emotional struggles for each character is addressed. There's a lot of loss that they're both dealing with and sometimes it comes out in the form of projection. This is where they both become supportive of each other. They don't appear to experience loss the same way, but they understand that their pain may be similar. I wasn't expecting that level of intensity, but I'm glad that it was a part of the book. Jason also has a prosthetic leg and while it isn't the entire focus of the story as a whole, it is important to Jason's character development. It's insight to how he views himself and past conversations that have occurred when a partner finds out and it also serves insight to how Reese views him.
Overall, this was a great book and I'm excited to continue the series. Every time I read a CCJ book I continue to understand why people love her so much. She's so great at everything she writes!

After just finishing two books that were poorly written and clearly not edited, it was a breath of fresh air to read this book. This is writing at its finest. I have read all of CCJ's books and she never fails to give us a good story that is well written, with lovable characters, a good, believable story line, and lots of humor. Her novels are often less than 200 pages, but she packs a lot of punch in those pages.
There's so much that's good about this book, but I don't want to give anything away, so just trust me on this. I'm excited about this new series, and can't wait to read whichever story is next.
Keep doing your thing, CCJ, and I'm gonna keep buying your books!

3… this book is super short but fun read. There are multiple spicy scenes but they can be skipped if you’re not into reading them. With that being said I really liked the two main characters’ banter. It was funny and cute and I liked the teasing dynamic. I usually think books are too short, but this one really suffered because of its length. If you’ve got two likable characters who have some depth to them, it’s best to ride out their story smoothly and slowly, or at least to me. But this is almost so short it’s a novella, so all of the changes our leads go through is abbreviated or just smooshed together to get it resolved as quickly as possible. Really brought down my enjoyment but I’m willing to read more from this author. I only hope her other books are longer!
3.5* Enjoyable read. CCJ is one of my favourite romance authors.
This book didn’t get a higher rating because of the ending. I thought Reese was selfish for “forcing” Jason to not take up the internship he really wanted, especially since they’d only been together such a short time.
