I read this one as an entry to a Challenge I'm doing, and it was very light and funny. The Challenge is to read more Cozy Fantasy, and this was perfect for that: Read a Cozy Fantasy that takes place at a Specific Holiday.
The stakes never felt too high here, but there were moments when you worried for sure. I don't think there were unnecessary descriptions and the story moved forward to what needed to happen.
There was a moment when I kinda guessed the twist there, and I don't know if everybody felt that way when Rhys' dad was trying to avoid a topic of conversation. They don't delve too much into that after the situation is solved, and I don't know if it's something that's discuss later on in any of the other books in this series, but if it't not: shame on Rhys' dad if he had info and decided not to share it just to protect his family name!
I liked that it took a little time for our MCs to finally end up together because it showed that the one who left actually worked on himself and his doubts or whatever before he made a choice to commit. Aaaand, we didn't have to wait too long, but we know that some time passed.

Nope. The characters were underdeveloped and honestly annoying. I didn’t believe that these were two almost-30-year-olds. They acted like lovesick teenagers who were somehow deeply in love after one summer ten years ago. The “witty banter” was unoriginal and cheesy. There was no pay off. The ending was unearned and way too fast. I needed more world-building, more atmosphere, more complexity, but I was just ready to be done by the time I reached the end. The only reason it’s not one star is because I’m a sucker for anything witchy.
Such a perfect October themed read! Witches, Halloween, hexes and entertaining banter.

I could not connect with this book after 100 pages even though I wish I liked it more. Just found the story slightly juvenile and uninteresting
This was fun and cute. This was definitely like a cheesy Netflix movie that I would've loved in movie form! In book form it just couldn't keep me hooked and I kept getting distracted. I liked the FMC and I will definitely try the sequel in audio form. I think rom coms go better in audio form for me!
