WTF?

Had to read this one for the book club I host at work (side note, I tried to pick good books after our summer break, hoping to never have to write one of these grumpy reviews again).

I don't even know what I just spent 10 hours of my life listening to. The end completely negates everything we spent the book learning about. It felt like twists were thrown in abundantly just for the sake of saying there were lots of twists, but with no consideration for how realistic or contradictory those twists turned out to be.

Technology references make no damn sense, but are mentioned repeatedly. Can only assume he's banking on an older audience, hence trying to explain technology over and over again, but said technology doesn't really work that way at all? If I hear the words SD card ever again in my life, it will be too soon.

And seriously,
Spoiler why did we spend all this time sorting out a mystery that Maya HAD ALREADY SOLVED??

Ugh, just really, REALLY grumpy about this one. Bye Harlan Coben, never again.

Slutet förstörde allt.

Loved it! Lots of twists and turns, and this time with a female protagonist (Coben usually features male). Coben seems more comfortable with male leads, but it was nice to see a strong woman kickin' ass and taking names.

This was a good book, but I wish I had read it before I had watched the TV show. I think that Coben's production team is able to bring his books to life in a way that adds so much depth; for instance, there's nothing on Kierce's backstory in the book, but that makes the TV show so much better. It's a good book, but it's nowhere near the TV adaptation IMO.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED UNTILLLLLLLLLLLLLL. the ending :)

Hate that trope. I think it’s a trope? Not sure. But I don’t like it. Not a bit.

Same thing happened in another book I read earlier this year that was a 2020 release and I hated it in that one too.

Authors please stop doing this.

Or just let me know before hand.

Just read my mind and when I’m going to pick up your book and your book has this trope just like message me and say DO NOT READDD ZE BOOK.

Thank you. Much appreciated in advance ;) :P

Harlan Coben is a master of page-turning suspense. This one has lots of twists and turns and was typically difficult to put down.

I don’t know what to make of this book cause I liked the story but the reveal was more like “ahhh that makes sense” rather than “WTF DID NOT EXPECT THAT” but I’m gonna watch the series and maybe that’ll be more tense
