The Other Significant Others: Reimagining Life with Friendship at the Center by Rhaina Cohen

I love this book so much I've read it twice in the past 6 months. I had a much longer review, but accidentally deleted it. :( long story short, a must read for those who compartmentalize relationships instead of allowing them to grow to their full potential.
Love is like a tree. If you keep it in a small pot, it may flourish, but end up a bonsai that will die without frequent care. If you allow it to grow and take care of it, you can allow it to expand and form a tree that is stable through the elements. Blah blah blah friends good, stop allowing your love for your partner to wash away your love for your friends.

This was an interesting book to read and reminded of being back in school as it had historical and sociological citing to support. I loved the importance of friendships and how they can help us as equally if not more so than partners. I loved that it validated the hurts of friendship breakups. While I enjoyed it this book was a bit dense and not something I recommend reading in one sitting like I did unless you're a huge nonfiction reader.

one of the most enjoyable books i've read in recent years, talking about the boundaries of non-romantic love
