Nancy has her hands full in this next mystery as she searches for a missing dancer who could be the only one to save a troubled young girl and her mother from poverty and despair. In her efforts, Nancy comes across some bad men who try to do everything in their power to keep her from finding the woman and claiming what is rightfully hers.

A cold case involving a missing dancer, a crumbling castle, tricky riddles, and more! A really fun and exciting mystery for Nancy--and I really like that it was on a time-crunch: just three weeks to solve a 10 year old disappearance! Nothing Nancy Drew can't handle!

apparently i read this one as a kid but 100% do not remember it. it's interesting how these books portray the girls. this time around, there was vastly less focus on bess' weight (👍👍👍) but nancy and george were so caught up in their own homoerotic subtext that they were actively mean to bess, who i'm diagnosing with GAD #bessdefensesquad

the mystery itself was not as good as nancy drew's high water mark (SKI JUMP SKI JUMP) but it was definitely a fun one. who doesn't love an eerie castle? plus, zero ned nickerson cameo (he's so boring) and a lot of quality carson drew time... who wouldn't like that

This has always been one of my favorite Nancy Drew mysteries. The castle setting is really cool and the mystery is pretty solid. Reading again as an adult I did find myself somewhat disliking the woman at the heart of the mystery. It seems to me that she caused a lot of heartache for the people who loved her.

I didn't enjoy this one as well as some others. I feel like maybe with everything going on there just wasn't enough space to contain it all.
