In the past week, I did both a workshop for another library and a booktalking program segment on graphic novels, so picked up quite a few newer ones to check out, so beware an influx of graphic novel reviews as I get to them.
Know Your Station imagines a pretty miserable Earth where soilsiders are left to their own devices. Meanwhile the wealthy elite, who of course helped create the awful Earth with everything from wealth exploitation, a corrupt carceral system, and environmental degradation, have escaped to a luxury space station where there every whim is catered for by an exploited staff.
When a murderer begins targeting the elite, it is up to an underqualified and drug-addicted security staffer named Elise, along with the AI St. Brigid, to figure out what is up. This one is much more satire than actual mystery, as Elise is a terrible investigator who doesn't do much actual investigating, and the actual culprit was easy to discover--though their motive surprised me.
